Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. - Hebrews 13:8
This is the third (or fourth) attempt at a newsletter. The other ones, well...they just didn't seem right. Newsletters are the chance for us to say "something" to our Bridges Family and having something to say is both a privilege and a responsibility. Not everyone has something to say all of the time.
So if you had one thing to say, what would it be?
What would you want everyone to know today?
What would you want them to think about? To remember? To take away?
If there was only one thing I could say, it would be about Jesus.
I think in the midst of so many things happening - so much upheaval - so much brokenness and anxiety, I would want everyone to know about Jesus.
That He is timeless. He never changes. He is always good. He does not move from one thing to the next. You can always count on HIm. There is nothing He cannot do or overcome. He is Savior and Lord. He is Friend and King. He is the Lion and the Lamb. He is before all things and in Him all things hold together. He is the Good Shepherd, the way, the truth and the life. He is eternal.
Summer started last week. It will end September 22. Things will come and go. Vacations are far too short. Some days seem to last forever. What is on the news today will be replaced by something new tomorrow, both good and bad. Nothing lasts forever, which can be good or bad, but Jesus never changes which is good news.
Jesus has seen me through a lot of things. He was led Bridges since day one and actually started well before that. He knew from the very beginning what would happen, and He holds our future.
Life seems transient and small sometimes. At times, it seems overwhelming and harsh. I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I do know Jesus and He will not change.
It's easy to feel unsettled these days. It's easy to wonder how everything will turn out. It's easy to be uncertain. Things change everyday and change can be scary.
Yet, through it all, Jesus is still there and He will not leave and He will not change.
Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. That is something I want to talk about.
