The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
- Psalm 19:1
I am a person who loves looking at nature. I love being at the beach to see the sand and vast ocean. I love to be on a nature trail to see the many different trees, wildlife, and flowers. I am always in awe every time I look at the sky on a clear night. I love to sit on my porch and listen to the symphony of animals.
When we do these things, I believe that it can expand our view of God. I believe that when we look to creation and all of the beauty around us, it can help our view of God to multiply.
How can looking at the world around us drive us to worship?
When we see the vast expanse of space, we can know that the same God who spoke that into existence has called us to be sons and daughters.
When we are outside and hear the birds sing, we can trust that the same Father who provides for them will provide our every need.
When we stand at the base of a grand ocean, we can be confident that the one who guides the tides also guides us.
The same God who has formed all the world around us is the same God that we worship. We can use the creation that he has made as a catalyst to praise and worship him.
I hope and I pray that we all begin to see the beautiful creation around us as something that can help us to praise God!
Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
- Psalm 96: 1-6
