… but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. - Leviticus 19:18

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 5:16

Several years ago, Bridges started a non-profit, Bridging the Gap (BTG), as a way to serve our community in the Name of Jesus, through simple things like giving away food & clothes, a weekly backpack of food for students, serving the families and staff at Old Town Elementary, bringing together churches in our community to work together in unity, and multiple other ways.

It has been so encouraging to see how God has worked in us and through us to push back the darkness of despair, discouragement, and disappointment in our community and shine His light of goodness, hope, love, compassion, and goodness.

This year, as part of Devoted23 and Pick 5, we want to encourage everyone to get involved, connected, and serve in our community at least once. (Volunteer at a Bridging the Gap Event on the Pick 5 card)

There are some great opportunities coming up where you can put this into practice:

BTG Yard Sale: Saturday, February 25 from 8am-12pm at the Ministry Center. Stop by to help or to buy something. All money goes toward the Bridging the Gap ministries.

Backpack Packing Event: Thursday, March 2 from 6:30-7:30pm at the Ministry Center. Help pack food for the140 plus students who receive food weekly through this program through Old Town Elementary and the Special Children’s School. (This event happens about every 6 weeks – look for more opportunities to come.)

The Inspiring Hope Learning Center: Launching Tuesday, March 7, & following Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until the end of the school year. The Inspiring Hope Learning Center (IHLC) will be a holistic, Christ-Centered after school tutoring and mentoring program for elementary students from our community. Slated for a soft opening this Spring, it will become a 5 day a week, more expansive program in August 2023.

Easter Food Distribution: Saturday, April 1 from 9:30am - 11:00am at Old Town Elementary (Food Dropoff and Volunteer Orientation at 9:00am.) Families and individuals will be able to buy a bag of groceries to be given out to families in our community. Look for a grocery list and directions soon.

Look for other events and opportunities to come throughout the year.

Together we are looking to be Deployed in our community to share the love of Christ with our neighbors as individuals and as a church through simple acts of service.
