A special thank you to everyone who participated in some way with the First Annual Family to Family Thanksgiving Food Distribution on November 20, 2021 at Old Town Elementary School.

Three churches, Trinity Church, New Church and Bridges Church partnered together to serve our community by providing both a Traditional Thanksgiving Meal Food Item bag and a Hispanic Traditional Celebration Food Item bag to over 150 families. The families were contacted through the school system, and in addition to getting a bag of food for the family, they also received a $15 gift card to Food Lion to purchase fresh or frozen items.

The smiles on so many faces spoke volumes, from the families receiving the food to the volunteers making it all happen. It was one of those special moments when you could sense God at work and present.

In addition to the joy of serving, an unanticipated joy was found in the forging of new relationships between the people of the 3 churches. There was a great sense of unity of mind, spirit and purpose, of connections and new friendships and a desire to see this happen more often. It's what Jesus prayed would happen in John 17 when He prayed for us to be one as He is one with the Father.

The remaining bags are being distributed to other families in our community over the next few weeks. When all is said and done, over 180 families will receive food, impacting over 800 people. That is a testament to the power of God at work and the cooperation of God's people in three churches that share a common geographical area and a common Savior, Jesus Christ, our greatest reason for unity and Thanksgiving.

Thanks again to everyone who helped and may God continue to open doors for us to serve together in even greater ways in the future.
