Celebrating Holy Week is not an obligation, but it is an opportunity. It is a chance to walk with the church, throughout time and throughout the world, as she walks with her Bridegroom through the most important week in the history of the world. It is a chance to focus our minds on, and seek to intensify our affections for, the most important and timeless of realities.

Holy Week begins this Sunday with Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday. It is a key week in the life of Jesus and His followers.

The Gospel writers felt that it was so important that they dedicated much of their writings to it – 2/5 of Matthew, 3/5 of Mark, 1/3 of Luke and 1/2 of John are focused on this one week. That’s a lot of time and attention given to this one short period in the life of a 33-year person. So much happened in this week.

As we enter this week, here are some suggestions for ways to make the week impactful in your life:

  1. Take time each day to reflect and be silent before God, listening for God’s voice.
  2. Check out the daily events of the life of Jesus - https://www.learnreligions.com/holy-week-timeline-700618
  3. Attend our Good Friday Service - Friday, March 29 at 7:00pm
  4. Attend our Easter Services – Sunday, March 31 at 9 & 11am
  5. Invite someone to come with you on Easter so they can hear the real reason we celebrate Easter – the resurrection of Jesus.
  6. Reflect on your own walk with Jesus. Is it as vibrant as you would like? Are you heading in a good direction? Stop and pray and ask God to reveal to you the reality of your walk with Him.

Jesus intentionally entered the week with His mind focused on the cross with the hope of the empty tomb. It was part of the plan from the very beginning.

The Holy Week is a great time to commit yourself more deeply to following Jesus. We are praying for you as we walk this road together.
