Each month in the newsletter, we will be highlighting a different Ministry Team to let everyone know how everything comes together to help make Bridges the place it is.

There are some incredible people doing some incredible things, making it possible to connect with what God is doing here. That is what Ministry Teams are all about.

This week, the spotlight is on the Communion Team – the team that prepares and sets out Communion each Sunday, to help us remember the sacrifice and love of Jesus. The bread is homemade, and the team gets everything ready before each service and cleans up afterwards. It is a great team for those who like to serve behind the scenes.

Team Leaders Ron & Vera Cowan have led this team for a while now, so we asked them a few questions:

What are the top three things you want people to know about your ministry?

  • Communion is an important part of the Worship service.
  • Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me.”
  • It is a sacred time between you and Jesus, a time to search your heart for any sin and ask for forgiveness.

What is one thing people should know about you?

We became Christ followers about a year before we were married which is 47 years. Jesus is the is the first person in our marriage.

What does following Jesus look like in your life?

It is a daily walk, praying, reading the word, hearing the word, and living the word. Always in school try to be more like Jesus but we are not perfect.  We may take two steps forward and one back. The next day we may take one forward and two back. We ask forgiveness and guidance and start anew the next day. We receive new mercies every day.

When you see Ron & Vera and their team on Sundays, be sure to thank them for all they do each week as they live out their lives of service.
