I thank God every time I remember you. - Philippians 1:3
There is so much that happens behind the scenes at Bridges. So much we may miss unless we look a little closer.
It’s an afternoon as someone cuts the grass or is out pulling weeds. It’s someone vacuuming the worship auditorium midweek or preparing the Worship Guide in the App.
It’s the someones who show up on Tuesday nights to prepare for the worship set on Sunday, those on stage and in the tech booth and even further behind the scenes creating the presentation to help guide our worship.
It’s the someones who arrive early on Sunday mornings to prepare communion, brew the coffee and get it all ready for us to arrive. There are other someones who take the trash out at the end. It’s easy to assume it all just happens, but the reality is that there are someones who make it happen.
It’s the someones who open their homes for their Small Group and who clean the house and get everything ready before everyone arrives. It’s the leaders of the groups who are stepping up in faith, praying that God will show up in the groups and move in hearts because they know they are dependent on Him.
It’s the someones who set up the greeting tent and arrive early to pray and stand at the doors excited to see who will arrive soon and then make sure we all feel welcomed and loved.
It’s the someones who make sure that what is broken is fixed like door handles, HVAC systems, bathroom fixtures, and outside lights, along with hundreds of other things. It’s the someones who decorate the church for special occasions, adding joy to our arrival.
It’s the someones who take care of the little someones in our Kids Ministry and help them find and follow Jesus. We only see what happens on Sunday mornings and miss all they do to get ready, and the hearts they give to teach and lead.
It’s all the someones who give generously to the Lord which goes to making ministry happen.
There are the someones who are called to shepherd the church and lead. Jesus is the Chief Shepherd, and they are the undershepherds who strive to serve as Jesus would.
It’s the someones who pray way behind the scenes, praying for you, your families, those who are sick, and for those in our community who do not yet know Christ.
It’s the someones who make and deliver meals to those who are going through hard times and the ones who organize it all.
There are the someones who meet and create a plan to steward the resources and finances of the church and who seek God’s provision and wisdom in serving the church. They carry a burden that most would not want to carry.
It’s the someones who drive the van and tutor and mentor and love the students in the Inspiring Hope Learning Center, Monday through Friday afternoons. It’s the someones who pick up the food at Sam’s on a Thursday and then some other someones who pack the bags of food that are given out to students on Fridays at Old Town Elementary so that they have food on the weekends.
These “someones” are our incredible volunteers, part of the body of Christ here at Bridges, who serve out of a love for Christ and His people.
They are amazing people, serving Christ, looking forward to hearing Him say one day, “Well done, good and faithful servants.” That is what drives them.
This is just a “thank you” to each and everyone of you who give of yourselves to make Bridges an amazing church, filled with God’s love! These words are not enough for you to read and for God to receive, but they are a start in expressing how grateful we are.
We are so blessed. We are so grateful. We are so loved and cared for. You are amazing!
THANK YOU!
