“There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”
“Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.)
Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. - John 6:9-11
It is a faith journey and a fund raiser all rolled into one. It is an opportunity to see God work through us, using what He has given us already, and then watching Him multiply it to raise funding for Bridging the Gap, the nonprofit that impacts our community through the Backpack Program and the Inspiring Hope Learning Center.
All 4 Gospels include the feeding of the 5,000, when Jesus took what a little boy gave, his lunch of 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, then multiplied it and fed all the crowd with food leftover. It is something still talked about today.
It starts with prayer. What has God given to you that you can partner with Him to see it multiply? Maybe it’s selling something and donating the money? Or having a yard sale? Or doing something that people can sponsor you to do like run a race or set up your own project? Or taking something you have like a power washer or lawnmower and putting it to work to help others.
