Our theme for the year is A DEEPER DEVOTION TO CHRIST, HIS CHURCH, AND HIS MISSION.

It is based on Acts 2:42:

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. - Acts 2:42

We have divided the year into thirds to put this into practice.

Part 1 was focused on our walk with Jesus through the study of the book of John and through living out our walk through PICK 5, a collection of small, step by step ways to go deeper in our devotion to Christ.

Part 2 was focused on building relationships and fellowship through Connect Events this summer.

Part 3 is next. It will be focused on prayer… They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. - Acts 2:42

Prayer – it’s a mystery to some. A daily lifeline for others. Some don’t know how to pray. Others don’t know how not to pray; it is like breathing air to them. Prayer is a direct connection to God, and it is vital for followers of Jesus.

Beginning October 1, we will hit the ground running with some key initiatives to grow our prayer life as individuals and as a church.

Initiative 1: Awaken Forsyth - https://www.awakenforsyth.com

October 1- 31, as part of Awaken Forsyth, we will be joining multiple churches in Forsyth County to pray for every person in our county by name to awaken people and communities to the hope Jesus brings. Together we will be praying for the 392,000 people in our county in 155,000 households. That’s a lot of people, and that’s a big challenge.

We have committed to mobilizing 50 people at Bridges to pray for 5,000 households, 4 households per day per person for 31 days. Can you imagine the transformation that can happen when God’s people come together in unity from different backgrounds, churches and denominations seeking Him together? What if you could be part of a great movement here in our community? What if we could see God do amazing things right here in Forsyth County. It’s possible – if God is behind it. Prayer is the pathway to seeing what God will do!

We are looking for 50 individuals (and couples) who are willing to be part of this prayer effort.

Initiative 2: Embrace Prayer Summit – Saturday, October 7, 9am – noon at Bridges Church.

Led by Neil Wheeler of Waypoint Church partners, this workshop will prepare us to seek God through prayer in even deeper ways. This is a great way for you to grow your prayer life with God through proven strategies of embracing prayer.

We are looking for people who want to take the next step in their prayer lives and who want to see and experience God more clearly in their lives.

Initiative 3: Who’s Your 7? – November 1-21

Through this time of prayer and fasting, leading up to Thanksgiving, we will be joining together to pray for breakthroughs for 7 People each in our lives. 7 People who may need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 7 People who may be struggling in life. 7 People who may need to know that God loves them and is at work around them. 7 People who may need a wakeup call in life. 7 People who may need to see life change. 7 People who just need to know that God is there. Who’s your 7? Look for more information to come and be ready to stand in the gap in prayer for them. Let’s see what God may do as we seek Him with all our heart.

Prayer is a powerful thing, and God is calling us to go even deeper with Him through prayer. Be ready for God to do something powerful in the next few months.

If you aren’t believing God for big things, you probably aren’t praying regularly or intensively enough. - Mark Batterson
