Give thanks to him who led his people through the wilderness.
His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136: 16 (NLT)
This week we wrap up our series, “Into the Wilderness”, a look at the years that the Israelites lived out a long “wilderness experience” between the life of slavery in Egypt and the freedom to come in the Promised Land.
Many of us have had a “wilderness experience” in our past or are living in one now. It is a time of uncertainty, stress, a “dryness of spirit”, a living at the end of one season but before the beginning of the next. It can be a time when priorities are exposed, and doors don’t seem to open. It can be a time of longing and waiting. It can be a time of doubt and discouragement.
But all seasons come to an end, and so does the season in the wilderness. In God’s perfect timing, when we are ready and the circumstances are right, we can then enter into the life of the “Promised Land,” experiencing a life of fulfillment and fruitfulness. The season of the wilderness ends; a new life begins.
This week we will focus on how to move out of the wilderness and into the “Promised Land“ life. God has a plan for us to find the fulfilment and purpose, success and prosperity in life as He defines it. The wilderness prepares us for the land “flowing with milk and honey.”
As we wrap up this series, we would love to hear from you about your wilderness experiences, how God got you through it, what He taught you, and how you were transformed by it. We would love to share these with others, to encourage them and help them see that good can come from time in the wilderness.
If you have a story of your own wilderness experience, please email it to me at patrick@bridgeschurch.net. Your story might be very helpful to others, so please share your “God story” with us. I look forward to hearing from you.
Join us this week as we conclude the series and continue our journey of following Jesus through the wilderness and beyond.
Praying for you and encouraged by you!
